Recording MIDI - reaper

Post by marcmarc »

Hi,
I'm trying to record the midi output from dsptrigger and I don't have any clue how to do it in reaper 4.12.
Any ideas ?
thanks

It's obviously much easier to just record the audio and leave DSP Trigger running. It's easy on the CPU, so you don't have to worry about taking a hit in that regard.

But if you really want to record the MIDI, you'll need to use two tracks: one for DSP Trigger, another for your sampler. The trick it to set the record mode to MIDI for the track with DSP Trigger on it. This will cause it to record the MIDI output by DSP Trigger instead of the audio going into its input. You can do this by right-clicking on track's VU meter area and setting the 'Record Output' to MIDI. Next, open the track's Input / Output section and add a send to the track with your sampler on it.

Maybe sure the track with DSP Trigger is record armed and that the monitor is on and you're all set.

FYI, It's important to keep DSP Trigger and your sampler on separate tracks. If they are on the same track, the sampler will consume the MIDI and won't pass it on to the output of the track and therefore it won't be recorded.

I hope that helps.

Rob.
