Hi hat trigger problems

Post by CodaClef »

I have been having an on again off again issue with mainly hi-hat triggering.
Occasional snare triggering as well but not as much. but I would say the snare misses 1 out of 20 hots when I am playing multiple pieces in fast succession.
Like double bass or fast hi-hat.

The hats miss about 40% of the hits when playing fast. Sometimes more sometimes less.

I have watched the videos on it, here is an example of the hats miss triggering.

Any ideas, this is driving me nuts.

I just watched, but I'm not entirely sure what I should be looking / listening for. It might be more obvious for you because you had the experience of playing the part. I would have been more helpful if you can include a timestamp that I should be paying attention to. Also would have been helpful to see the activity on the eDRUMin control application.

Oh god the audio is horrible let me redo that.
It keeps missing every other hit on the hat when playing fast, but yeah I can see why you cant tell in that.
I should have double checked it...

If and when you redo that, turn Auto select off and leave your hihat cymbal selected in the control application. This will allow me to see what's might be causing the hihat's hits to be choked. Also, if you don't need the snare playing (or any other pads) in order to reproduce the issue, then leave it out. If you find you do need another pad to cause the issue, just play the two together--keep things as simple and clear as possible.

OK, here it is.
I am just playing a constant tick tick tick tick, you can hear all the dropped hits clearly

The problem is that your decay setting is way too relaxed. Also you probably shouldn't have 'Bell Sense' and 'Positional Sensing' on for your hihat.

I have a video called 'Transient Scan Controls" which is definitely worth a watch.
