Hi all,
Have been away for a while. I seem to remember that it was recommended to plug an ED directly into a USB port on the computer when updating firmware rather than through a USB hub (or another device like an ED10).
I'm curious if that is still the case. I looked in the firmware update section of the manual, and also did some searching here in topics about firmware update and didn't see any mention of. I just don't want to cause myself any pain updating to latest firmware. I have had successful firmware updates without unplugging my ED4's from where they were plugged in (a hub on my rack) but generally have tried to plug up directly to a USB port on the PC.
Thanks
Retro

Got it taken care of, just used a different cable long enough to reach each ED location on the rack.
Also found in docs in first paragraph of the Appendix where it mentions it not being recommended to update firmware while connected through a hub.

Re: firmware update - still need direct usb port?
The chance of an issue due to using a hub is small, and I've managed to mitigate sources of potential problems. Furthermore now that all the devices are in metal enclosures, it's easy enough to recover in case of a problem.
