USB Host with DM8 Module

Post by Kanakin »

Hi team, I have my ED10 up and running but I require more inputs.

Is it possible using to USB host function to have pads connected to my DM8 module - connected to ED10 via usb host - ED10 out to PC?

My DM8 did show up on the ED10s settings as a midi device but after a few seconds it disappeared.

Is what im trying to do possible or do I just get y cables.

Cheers team.

It's definitely designed to work that way. Does the DM8 power itself via USB or does it have an external power adapter?

Do you happen to know what firmware version you are using?

It almost seems like the DM8 is making the ED10 lose connection.

Not sure what the issue might be. You avoid using the eDRUMin MIDI Monitor. There's an issue right now where if more than 7 messages arrive within about 50 ms, it will likely crash the eDRUMin hardware. But as long as the MIDI monitor isn't open, there should be no issue.

I just realized that. Whenever clicking the midi monitor it seemed to crash.

I now have the DM8 stable. I can see that it is sending midi data and have selected on the dm8 which midi notes I want that to send.

How do I then route that through ED10 and out to my VST

Since the DM8 has MIDI in, and it would be the same as my DTX700, I had the ED10 connected to the module with MIDI, then the module connected to the computer via USB. Make sure you have the module in pass thru.

Or... get the ED10 USB to the computer, and the module USB to the computer, and set the VST to receive both USB midi.

I did think of connecting both the pc separately but I want to figure out if can all be done through the USB Host function.

This would save me having to buy more cables and also get access to the Xtalk.
