No Midi in Cubase Pro 8.5

Hi,

I cannot seem to get any MIDI from DSP trigger to the VST synth of my choice.

This is what i have done:

1. Created a new stereo audio track
2. Chosen the stereo input that my pad (Roland PDX-100) is connected to
3. Loaded DSPTrigger as an insert on track
4. Activated monitor
4. Confirmed that the pad triggers well in DSPTrigger + turned off "calibration"

5. Created a new MIDI track
6. Loaded a VST instrument (e.g. Groove Agent SE 01) in the VST Instruments panel (F11)
7. Assign the MIDI output from the track to the VST instrument
8. Activated monitor on the track
8. Chose MIDI input of the track to (a) "All MIDI Inputs" (and i can then trigger the VST instrument with my keyboard) and then (b) DSPTrigger.

In neither of the cases do I get any MIDI data from DSP trigger to the VST instrument (no indication of data being received).

I tried this with both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of DSPTrigger with no luck...

Do you know what could be the problem?

Thanks!

Can you check make sure the 'master' checkbox is checked.

Thanks forthe quick reply!

Yes, tried it with "MASTER" checked and unchecked, still no MIDI...

Is the small "MIDI" symbol in the upper right corner of the plugin interface supposed to light up or change color when MIDI data is sent/produced by the plugin? It never does.

That symbol is an activity meter for MIDI being passed into the plugin, not the MIDI the plugin generates.

Setting the MIDI Track input to 'ALL MIDI Inputs' probably wouldn't work, but I understand you're just showing that the signal flow should be working.

Do you have anything inserted after DSP TRIGGER on the that audio track? Another plugin inserted after DSP TRIGGER would likely consume its MDII Events. BTW, are you on Mac OS or Windows?

Rob

Ok about the MIDI symbol (suspected that).

I'm on Windows 10.

There is nothing inserted in the audio track after the plugin - I also tried inserting it (normal) pre-fader and post-fader.

I'm really scratching my head here - probably there is just something simple that i just forgot to check somewhere....

Anyway, here are some screenshots:

A bug in Cubase 8.5 perhaps? I haven't (wasn't planning to) updated to Cubase 8.5, but I'll get around to it tomorrow and see what's up.

Could it be that DSP TRIGGER I'd just sending a different note than you expected? You don't see any indication of MIDI entering Grove Agent. It has its own MIDI activity indicator.

Rob

No indication of MIDI entering Groove Agent.

The MIDI activity indicator for Groove Agent lights up when I play the keyboard with "All MIDI inputs" as MIDI source, and sound is produced. When choosing DSP Trigger (or "All MIDI inputs") as MIDI input and playing the pad the MIDI activity indicator does not light up.

What a headache. Cubase 8.5 is crashing all over the place. What a pitty.

Anyways, I got DSP Trigger working fine. Take a look at this screenshot:

Never mind that the output is set to TouchOSC, but you'll notice some other differences. Most curiously, what's the 'Standard Hybrid' thing I see if yours?

What version of DSP TRIGGER are you using? I recently posted an update (1.6.1.0) Can you make sure you are using the same version?
